The Police of Jawf province arrested on Friday a member of a gang of bandits looting travelers on the public road in Mua’imara area of Al-Moton district.

The Ministry of Interior explained, in a statement received by Saba, that the mugger was arrested during a security campaign to track down the gang members, who cut off the way of a number of passengers, killed some of them, and looted their cars and belongings.

The ministry said that, during the security campaign, the gang members opened fire on the policemen, injuring 3 and killing a citizen, who was near the scene of the shooting.

Efforts are still ongoing to arrest the rest of the gang members, the ministry stated.

In this context, Jawf police denied what was circulated by the aggression media and its mercenaries’ mouthpieces, which claimed that the security campaign was sent to remove a popular market, and resulted in clashes between the security men and some of the tribesmen of the area.

The police emphasized that, in cooperation with Jawf honorable people, it would not allow the return of such banditry acts or any security breach in the liberated areas as it was happening before the liberation from the occupation forces and their mercenaries.
