As part of the "Initiatives of Zayed Year 2018", The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Lebanon, Dr. Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, on Tuesday inaugurated a photo exhibition on the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, at Beit Beirut, under the patronage of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, represented by Caretaker Culture Minister Ghattas Khoury.
Attending the inaugural ceremony had been former President Amine Gemayel, former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, and Caretaker Ministers of National Defense Yaacoub al-Sarraf, of Information Melhem Riachy, and of the Displaced Moeen Merhbi, as well as Beirut Governor Judge Ziad Shbib.
The Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Waleed Bukhari, Tunisia Karim Boudali, Morocco Mohameed Karin, Algeria Ahmed Bouzian, Jordan Nabil Masarwi, Oman Badr al-Munzeri, and Yemen Abdulla al-Daees.
Scores of political, cultural, military and media dignitaries were also present.
The exhibition showcased photo archive of the late Sheikh Zayed on his visits and meetings with Lebanese, Arab and foreign politicians, as well as his key achievements during his reign, in addition to his contributions to achieving peace and his role in supporting culture, education, science, reconstruction and women's affairs.
In his delivered word, Ambassador Shamsi eulogized the late Sheikh Zayed as the "man of peace par excellence."
Shamsi said the exhibition will last for one week, hoping that this exhibition will be valuable for all university students and schools.
The UAE diplomat hoped that a new government will see the light prior to the date of the upcoming Arab Summit.
Minister Khoury, for his part, congratulated the UAE on its 47th National Day and the Year of Zayed 2018, hailing Ambassador Shamsi's relentless efforts in bolstering Lebanese-UAE relations.
Khoury hoped the current festive season would bring about peace across all the Arab nation, hoping a new government capable of addressing all pending socio-political challenges, will see the light soon.
Beirut Governor Judge Ziad Shbib, in turn, thanked Ambassador Shamsi for all his endeavors in furthering relations between Lebanon and the UAE.
Minister Riachy, for his part, hailed "Zayed Year 2018" as a meaningful occasion embodying the sentiments of love and peace for the Lebanese and Emirati peoples, as well as reflecting the constant cooperation between the two countries and the two peoples alike.
Riachy hoped a new government will see the light soon, hailing the importance of the Taef Accord in consecrating national balance between the Lebanese in protection of civil peace.
