SANAA, Parliament Speaker Yahya Al-Ra'i on Tuesday has sent letters to UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen Lise Grande and UN Secretary-General's envoy Martin Griffiths concerning the holding of oil tankers at sea.
Al-Ra'i said in his letters that the authorities of resigned Hadi backed by the countries of Saudi-led aggression coalition had held several oil tankers coming to the port of Hodeida.
In his letter, Al-Ra'i said that the implementation of this procedure and the holding of these ships constitute a military and political escalation that violates the Stockholm agreement regarding the commitment of both parties to facilitate the movement of civilians and goods to and from the city of Hodeida and its ports.
He expressed the hope that the United Nations will play its humanitarian role in preventing a humanitarian catastrophe resulting from this disastrous action.
In addition, he called on the United Nations to guarantee the entry of oil tankers into the ports of Hodeida, al-Salif and Ras Issa, whether loaded with oil, food or medicine, and to neutralize the national economy.
