Standards Authority destroys illegal goods quantity in Hodeida and Al-Rahida

The Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control destroyed a quantity of various goods in violation of the approved standard specifications in Hodeida and Al Rahida. The authority explained in a statement, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), today,Wednesday, that it destroyed 26,884 cartons of cake in Hodeida, in violation of the approved standard specifications in terms of the presence of apparent mold on the product. The statement indicated that in Al-Rahida, 4,585 cartons of guava drink were destroyed due to the presence of bloating with a fermentation smell in the containers, as well as an amount of expired tile powder. Also, 50 cartons of 'red' tamarinds were destroyed due to the presence of live larvae in the product, and the valves of gas cylinders were destroyed. A household Abu Mesmarin does not conform to the approved standard specifications in terms of not recording the country of origin, as well as being a prohibited species because it is Abu Me smarin. The statement pointed out that the destruction process was carried out in cooperation with customs, security services and concerned authorities in accordance with the law and the powers granted to the authority based on its role in protecting the health and safety of the consumer. The authority urged all importers, producers and manufacturers to adhere to the approved standard specifications and storage and transportation conditions, stressing that it will not tolerate any products that violate the specifications and standards.
