Taiz .. Al-Sami’i meets with deputy head of delegation of Red Cross Committee in Yemen

A member of the Supreme Political Council, Sultan Al-Sami'i, met on Tuesday in Taiz with the Deputy Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Yemen, David Montes.

During the meeting, which was attended by Maelanny Purwaningrum, head of the office at International Committee of the Red Cross in Ibb province, the mission's interventions in the humanitarian and service fields in the governorate were discussed, foremost of which is humanitarian aid for war-affected and displaced people from the province.

The meeting reviewed the activities and programs implemented by the mission, the difficulties it faces, and ways to enhance cooperation between the local authority and the committee, in a way that contributes to the delivery of its activities to the beneficiaries.

The meeting touched on the possibility of the committee expanding its interventions in the service side, especially the health sector, by supporting some hospitals, in addition to drinking water projects, wells, and others.

In the meeting, the member of the Supreme Political Council, Al-Sami'i, stressed the difficult humanitarian situation in Yemen in general and Taiz Governorate in particular in light of the challenges resulting from the continuation of the aggression and the siege, and the aggression coalition's non-compliance with the armistice and its disregard for the rights and salaries of employees.

He pointed out that this exacerbated the human suffering of the Yemeni citizen and frighteningly widened the circle of poverty among state employees due to the suspension of their salaries, in violation of international covenants and treaties.

Al-Sami'i pointed out the importance of the role of the Red Cross Committee in expanding the circle of providing humanitarian assistance to those affected and interventions according to a comprehensive vision and careful studies of the priorities and necessary needs that achieve the sustainability of projects to overcome the human suffering of the people of the province.

While the deputy head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen and the director of the ICRC office in Ibb appreciated the positive role of the Supreme Political Council, the Humanitarian Affairs Council and the leadership of Taiz province in facilitating the implementation of the mission's projects in the province.

They praised the facilities provided to the mission and the provision of appropriate conditions and climates for the successful implementation of humanitarian and service projects and interventions
