SANAA, The Joint Technical Committee for Preparedness for the Coronavirus epidemic has confirmed that no cases of Coronavirus have been reported so far in the Republic of Yemen, and that there is no truth to reports of cases in Yemen.

Dr. Abdul Hakim al-Kuhlani, spokesman for the Joint Technical Committee, told Saba that the committee is the only body authorized to announce any case of injury. He noted that there is no possibility of conducting the test except at the National Center for Public Health Laboratories in the capital, Sana'a.

Dr. Al-Kuhlani called on the World Health Organization (WHO) to support all provinces with devices and solutions to enhance their preparedness to cope with the virus.

He pointed out that the central laboratory in Sana'a on Friday examined two suspected cases of deported citizens from Saudi Arabia who meet the standard definition of the case adopted by the Health Organization; tests have confirmed that they are free of coronavirus. He stressed the committee's commitment to dealing with this matter with professionalism and transparency.
