Sana'a: The Third Digital Financial Consumer Forum began on Monday in Sana'a, organized by the Yemeni Consumer Protection Association in partnership with the Central Bank of Yemen under the theme 'Towards Safer and Fairer Financial Services for Consumers.'
According to Yemen News Agency, over three days, the forum will address financial fraud in digital services, emerging risks, fraudulent investment schemes, secure digital infrastructure, consumer trust, regulatory frameworks, and shared responsibilities for financial safety.
At the opening, Minister of Communications and IT, Eng. Mohammed Al-Mahdi, emphasized the government's commitment to a safe and reliable digital financial environment, highlighting the need for legal and regulatory frameworks to mitigate associated risks. He underscored the importance of protecting consumer data, supporting innovation, and maintaining secure, resilient digital services.
Deputy Finance Minister Nasser Al-Hamdani outlined the ministry's efforts toward comprehensive financial digitalization, including e-revenue collection, modernized systems, and public awareness to build a fair, secure, and sustainable digital economy. He stressed the need for a national cybersecurity framework and collaborative efforts to combat financial fraud.
Central Bank's Director General of Payment Systems, Yahya Al-Khatib, noted the forum's role in exploring innovative fintech solutions while safeguarding digital consumers. He reaffirmed the bank's commitment to secure and sustainable digital financial services.
Yemeni Consumer Protection Association President, Fadl Mansour, stated that the forum aims to unify visions and directives to ensure a safe, fair, and inclusive digital financial environment, emphasizing that consumer protection is a shared national responsibility.
Forum sponsor representatives, including Eng. Mohammed Al-Mutawakel of the e-SADAD platform, highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, private, and financial sectors to enhance digital financial services and promote financial inclusion.
The forum's sessions focus on combating digital financial fraud, ensuring secure payment systems, raising awareness, and addressing fraudulent investment schemes to strengthen consumer protection and regulatory oversight.
