Tourism and Promotion Council warn of consequences of burning copies of tHoly Quran

The Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Promotion Board have warned of the consequences of the crime of burning copies of the Holy Quran by extremists in Sweden on international peace and security.

A statement issued by the ministry and the council, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), indicated that the repetition of such disgraceful and unacceptable acts fuels hatred and violence, and threatens peaceful coexistence between nations and peoples.

He denounced the double standards and policy of double standards pursued by Western countries in dealing with issues of rights and freedoms, respect for religions and freedom of expression, stressing that the Swedish authorities' permitting such anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim crimes reveals the falsity of their claim to respect freedom of expression.

The statement pointed out that the repercussions of such crimes will not stop at provoking the feelings of more than two billion Muslims around the world, as well as establishing waves of violence and conflict in the long term, and these countries will be the first to suffer.

The statement indicated that transnational terrorist entities are behind these provocative acts, seeking to target the values of tolerance, respect for religions, coexistence, and international charters and treaties.

He called on Muslims in the world to take a unified stand against these anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim crimes, and to boycott Sweden and its products for allowing such crimes.

The statement calls on the international community and its concerned institutions not to remain silent on such crimes, due to their serious repercussions on international peace and security
