UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, said that, failure to address the worsening economic conditions in Yemen, would have dire consequences on the civilian life.
“The delegates to the ongoing peace talks in Kuwait are solely able to bring about a change to the situation in their country,” he said, in a press release Wednesday night.
“The UN-facilitated peace talks, cannot move forward, unless the stakeholders offer mutual concession,” he stressed.
Earlier, the Special Envoy met with the representatives of the Yemeni government, the Ansarullah movement, and the General People’s Congress, in a bid to bringing closer, their view points on such issues as, pullout from residential areas and laying down of arms.
He also met Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Khaled Suleiman Al-Jarallah, who renewed his country’s support to the talks.
