UAE cultural expo remembers late Kuwaiti sheikh’s contributions – official

Sharjah, UAE, - A culture and arts exhibit in the UAE emirate of Sharjah fondly feted the late Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah, who contributed immensely towards the preservation of regional cultural relations, a Kuwaiti official said on Wednesday.

The late Kuwaiti sheikh, alongside Sharjah ruler Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi, share a "penchant for culture and arts," Kuwaiti National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters chief Dr. Mohammad Al-Jassar told KUNA as the "Ziena, Splendor of the Indian Courts" exhibit opened, citing their collective "devotion" to protect the Islamic cultural identity.

The exhibit, which displays some 84 rare pieces from the personal collection of the late Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah, encapsulates a "common desire" by Gulf Arab neighbors Kuwait and the UAE to preserve cultural ties, the official underlined.

On these collectibles on display, Kuwait's consul general in Dubai and the northern UAE Ali Al-Thaydi hailed the expo as the latest in a litany of accomplishments seen in the emirate of Sharjah, in addition to the ever-growing local cultural and arts scene.

The rarity and uniqueness of the Kuwaiti collectibles shown, many of which are never before seen pieces, have garnered large-scale adulation, the Kuwaiti diplomat emphasized, pointing out that such praise is a "source of pride" for all Kuwaitis.
