SANAA, Minister of Water and Environment Nabil al-Wazir on Wednesday stressed the importance of coordinating efforts between the various bodies and institutions affiliated to the ministry to reduce cholera epidemic.
During a meeting of the ministry's emergency operations room, the minister directed the water and sanitation emergency unit to complete work on several activities and interventions to reduce cholera in Saad province, including conducting a community stimulus study for epidemic prevention.
Al-Wazir also ordered the formation of a team to study the work of rain water-harvesting tanks for Haidan area in Saada, which would provide clean drinking water to citizens.
The meeting reviewed the submitted reports on the general epidemiological situation at the national level during the period (November 5 to 25).
The reports pointed out that the cholera epidemic has witnessed a wide spread during the past four weeks in the provinces of Marib, Sanaa, Mahweet, Hodeidah, Dhamar, Taiz, Bayda, Amran, Ibb and Hajjah.
