Sana'a: Al-Quran University and Academic Sciences in Ibb held on Tuesday a workshop to approve the renaming of the College of Humanities and Applied Sciences and to establish a new Information Technology program.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop brought together 40 academics and specialists from various universities and educational institutions in the governorate to discuss and approve the proposed college name, aligning its vision, mission, values, and goals with the university's strategic direction. The aim is to enhance academic education, improve program quality, and meet the requirements of the labor market and rapid technological developments.
Discussions included benchmarking results from similar colleges and departments nationally, regionally, and globally, and strategies for achieving vertical and horizontal alignment of strategic objectives. The workshop also reviewed the proposed organizational structure for the college and its academic programs.
Participants examined the program description and guidelines for the new Information Technology program, including modern academic standards for curriculum development, designed to prepare qualified professionals capable of keeping pace with advancements in technology and digital transformation.
Abdulfattah Ghalab, head of the university branch in Ibb, emphasized the importance of developing academic programs and scientific disciplines to meet community needs and adapt to scientific and technological changes. He said investing in quality education is fundamental for building a generation with knowledge, awareness, and the ability to serve the nation.
Ghalab added that the establishment of the IT program reflects the university's commitment to modernizing its academic infrastructure, enhancing technical disciplines, and supplying qualified professionals to support state institutions and societal development. He described it as a qualitative leap in preparing students with technical and knowledge-based skills for competitive careers and contributions to national development.
Dr. Bashir al-Mafrah, representing the university president, said the workshop is part of the university's efforts to improve academic and institutional performance, align educational outcomes with labor market needs, and ensure quality and accreditation standards. He noted that renaming the college and launching the IT program are key steps in modernizing the university, expanding specialized programs, and creating an environment that develops students' practical and scientific skills.
