Yemen, ICRC discuss cooperation

SANA’A, Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi discussed on Tuesday with director of operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Dominik Stillhart areas of cooperation and ways to strengthen and develop them.

The deputy foreign minister condoled the ICRC over the deaths of several of its staff during the recent attack on Aden airport, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

Three ICRC employees were killed in Aden’s airport explosion and three were injured, including one seriously.

Al-Ezzi touched on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the aggression and siege, stressing the need for organizations working in the humanitarian field to play their role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.

He praised the efforts carried out by the ICRC delegation in the prisoner exchange last October, stressing the government’s readiness to move forward with this important humanitarian issue and reach an agreement that would include the release of all prisoners.

For his part, Stillhart reviewed the activities carried out by the ICRC on the ground, expressing the appreciation of the facilities provided by the Salvation government in this regard.
