Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) chairman Rashad al-Alimi affirmed Thursday openness to all initiatives aimed at achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace based on the references agreed upon nationally, regionally and internationally.
This came during Al-Amimi's reception of US Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Wagen to discuss the developments in Yemen and mediation efforts led by Saudi Arabia and Oman to renew the truce and launch a UN-brokered comprehensive political process, Yemen News Agency (SABA) reported.
Al-Alimi underlined the need to ensure a wide partnership in the future without exclusion or discrimination to guarantee that the rounds of war will not be repeated.
He called for abidance by the constitution and the law, and respecting the resolutions of international legitimacy, public rights and freedoms, and good-neighborly relations, it noted.
Al-Alimi referred to the Houthi militias' obstinacy towards peace efforts, including their continued refusal to renew the truce and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, and their continued military escalation.
He lauded ties with the US and its supportive stance to legitimacy in Yemen.
Meanwhile, Wagen affirmed Washington's support to the PLC, and the government's constitutional and economic reforms in all domains.
