A source at the Ministry of Youth and Sport told National Yemen that the Yemen Olympic Committee (YOC) will announce its withdrawal from Yemen from the Arab Games by the end of the week. The YOC previously confirmed its participation in an official meeting headed by minister Abdul Rahm Al-Aka’a last January. However, the YOC has reversed its decision and will withdraw their athletes due to the lack of readiness by the Yemeni Sport Union to participate in a number of events including football, chess, tennis, judo, taekwondo, and wrestling. The Arab Games will take place in Qatar from December 9th to the 23rd.
