GENEVA, Switzerland, Sept 14 (NNN-SPA) – Yemeni Minister of Human Rights, Mohammed Askar, calls upon the international community, to take firm stance against the Houthis and Saleh militias, due to their coup against Yemeni legitimacy, and causing a humanitarian disaster for the Yemeni people.
He also called for adopting a unified stance, to end the coup and restore legitimacy, according to the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanisms, outcome of the comprehensive national dialogue, and the Security Council Resolution No. 2216.
In a speech before the 36th Session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Askar reviewed the crimes and violations of coup militias, that affected the legitimate institutions, residences of officials, kidnappings and assassinations.
He clarified that, the Yemeni National Investigation Committee, documented 7,000 cases of violations, committed by the coup militias, and prepared 3,000 violation cases, to be handed over to the Public Prosecution, upon directives of the Yemeni President, in order to achieve justice.
He stressed that the Yemeni government exerts efforts, to cooperate with the National Committee and the Office of the High Commissioner, in addition to the Yemeni government’s efforts, with governments of the member countries of the Arab coalition, supporting legitimacy in Yemen, to deal positively with the National Committee, to carry out humanitarian mission, in accordance with international standards.
