Beijing: Investments in major transportation projects in China reached 330 billion yuan (approximately $48.11 billion) during the first quarter of 2026. According to Yemen News Agency, Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday, citing the Chinese Ministry of Transport, that construction is accelerating on 1,845 highway and waterway projects, each with an investment exceeding 100 million yuan. The ministry's data revealed the launch of 174 major transportation projects during this period, generating 16 billion yuan in new investments. Transportation infrastructure projects are crucial in stimulating economic growth. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), the implementation and operation of flagship projects such as the Shiziyang Canal in Guangdong Province in southern China and the Changjinggao Yangtze River Bridge in Jiangsu Province in eastern China are expected to be completed, according to the ministry.
