Al-hodeidah: Sam Al-Bashiri, Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment, inspected the work at the Ministry's office in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, focusing on administrative, technical, and supervisory performance, and monitored the implementation of plans and programs aimed at developing economic and industrial services in the governorate.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit, Al-Bashiri assessed the performance of various departments and sections within the office, evaluating staff discipline and transaction completion. He commended the efforts of the office's leadership and employees in enhancing the quality of services provided to the commercial and industrial sectors and developing the institutional work environment to boost overall performance efficiency.
The Acting Minister conducted a meeting with Saleh Atifah, the Director of the Ministry's Office in the governorate, his deputies, department directors, section heads, and several employees. He received a detailed presentation on the office's operations and the strategies for improving its services, particularly in areas such as issuing commercial records and cards through automated systems, monitoring commercial activities, and implementing market oversight and consumer protection programs.
Atifah discussed the office's initiatives to bolster coordination with commercial and industrial sectors, factories, and investment companies in the governorate, aiming for integration between industrial and commercial activities, supporting economic development, and enhancing local production. He also highlighted efforts to implement the local industries localization program to support national products and encourage investments in small and medium-sized industries, stressing the importance of public and private sector cooperation to increase self-sufficiency and achieve industrial and food security.
Al-Bashiri received reports from department directors on topics such as food security monitoring, violation control, measures to stabilize prices, and consumer protection against illegal commercial practices. The reports also covered achievements in updating commercial data, improving public services, and simplifying procedures through digital transformation.
During the meeting, Al-Bashiri praised the efforts of the Ministry's leadership and staff in Al-Hodeidah, noting that their successes reflect the administrative staff's dedication to their national responsibilities in serving citizens and promoting sustainable development in the economic and industrial sectors. He reiterated the Ministry's commitment to enhancing institutional performance and expanding the use of electronic systems in service delivery, which contributes to increased transparency, accelerated workflow, and supports the state's transition to a digital economy.
He also stressed the importance of intensifying field inspections of markets, shops, and factories to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and protect consumers. Al-Bashiri noted that the forthcoming phase will see improved coordination mechanisms between the Ministry's offices in the governorates and unified efforts in implementing economic and investment programs.
