Sana'a: Acting Prime Minister, Allamah Muhammad Miftah, alongside the Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, inaugurated and launched several significant projects in the livestock sector and the collection and processing of agricultural products in Sana'a. The projects, with a combined cost of 861 million riyals, are funded locally.
According to Yemen News Agency, the inauguration ceremony was attended by key officials including the Head of the Social Affairs Committee of the Governorate, Hammoud Al-Naqeeb, and others. They inaugurated three major projects: rehabilitation and restoration of the central slaughterhouse and its annexes, installation of equipment for the slaughtering hall, and maintenance of the feed mill at the Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets Office, all totaling 270 million riyals.
The Acting Prime Minister and the Mayor also inaugurated a project for the rehabilitation of the wastewater and slaughterhouse byproducts treatment plant at the Dar Salam Central Slaughterhouse, at a cost of 141 million riyals. Furthermore, they laid the foundation for the first phase of a center to receive and collect agricultural and fish products at the Central Slaughterhouse, costing 450 million riyals, funded by the Municipality through the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit.
During their visit, the officials inspected the facilities, reviewing the implementation and operational mechanisms of the projects. They were briefed by Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, Executive Director of the Agricultural Financing Unit, and Ahmed Idris, Director of the Slaughterhouses Office, on the progress and components of the projects aimed at strengthening the value chain.
The projects include an agricultural products center on a 17,400 square meter area, with facilities for packing, sorting, and packaging, along with other service facilities. The Acting Prime Minister highlighted the comprehensive nature of the slaughterhouse project, which includes utilizing byproducts for fertilizer and animal feed production, creating job opportunities, and maintaining community health through cleanliness.
He expressed hope for the slaughterhouse and agricultural market project to serve as a model for other governorates. The Mayor of Sana'a underscored the importance of these projects for farmers and consumers, reducing intermediaries, and enhancing the value chain for local products.
The Acting Prime Minister extended gratitude to all involved in the project's implementation, aimed at alleviating pressure on slaughterhouses during Eid al-Adha, with a capacity of processing sixty bulls per hour. He emphasized the importance of providing a reliable, healthy product with a certificate of conformity.
