Agriculture Kicks Off Training Workshop for Field School Facilitators

Sana'a: A training workshop for field school facilitators began on Sunday in Ibb governorate, organized by the Office of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in partnership with the General Department of Agricultural Extension and Training, and funded by the Executive Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives. According to Yemen News Agency, the three-day workshop aims to provide 62 participants-including agricultural extension officers in cooperative associations, agricultural facilitators, and directors of agriculture branches in model districts such as Yarim, Al-Odain branch, Hazm al-Odain, and al-Qafr-with skills and knowledge to boost agricultural and livestock production under the agricultural expansion project. Governor of Ibb Abdulwahid Salah highlighted the role of agricultural extension in driving rural development and achieving food security and self-sufficiency, stressing the governorate leadership's support for expanding extension services and providing their necessary resources. Agricultural sector official Eng. Hamoud al-Rassas outlined the goals and methodology of community-based agricultural extension, as well as the features and principles of sustainable field schools, which aim to raise farmers' awareness through informal education, knowledge-sharing, and practical learning.
