Agriculture Ministry Reassures Western Coast Farmers and Fishermen Over Product Distribution

Sana'a: Acting Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Ammar Al-Karim has reassured farmers and fishermen in the western coast districts that their productive activities will continue uninterrupted and that their products will reach local markets smoothly. According to Yemen News Agency, the acting minister emphasized that the ministry, in coordination with local authorities and relevant agencies, has instituted a series of measures to protect agricultural and fishery products from spoilage and market stagnation.

The measures, as outlined by Al-Karim, include the establishment of approved collection centers to facilitate supply and receiving operations while reducing additional burdens and costs for farmers, fishermen, and producers. Arrangements are also being made to organize the purchase of products and ensure safe and orderly transportation from these collection centers to markets and governorates, thus ensuring the smooth movement of products and overcoming any logistical challenges that may arise during transportation and marketing.

Al-Karim reiterated the ministry's commitment to absorbing and marketing various agricultural and fishery crops, facilitating their distribution to prevent accumulation or spoilage, maintaining prices, protecting the rights of farmers and fishermen, and ensuring the continuation of productive activities. To this end, the acting minister directed the formation of field teams and the activation of direct communication and coordination channels to monitor and promptly address any logistical or emergency difficulties affecting product movement or producer transportation in collaboration with relevant authorities.

Furthermore, he urged farmers and fishermen to continue with their production efforts, highlighting that the protection of local products and the stabilization of their markets are top priorities for the ministry. This approach is aimed at preserving their sources of income and strengthening food security.
