Seiyun: The fourth and final stage of the first division men’s basketball league for the 2024-2025 season, organized by the Yemeni General Federation of the game, kicked off on Sunday. In a thrilling opening match of this stage, Ahli Sana’a secured a challenging victory over Al-Burq Tarim with a close score of 60/56.
According to Yemen News Agency, the match, hosted at the closed sports hall in Seiyun, Hadramout province, was marked by intense competition and rivalry. The teams alternated victories across the four periods. Ahli Sana’a took the first period with a narrow 14/10 lead. However, Al-Burq Tarim responded robustly in the second period to win 19/14. The third period saw Ahli Sana’a edge out Al-Burq by a single point, scoring 13/12. Seiyun delivered a strong performance in the fourth period, ultimately securing the game with a 19/13 win, culminating in a final score of 51/42.
With this outcome, Seiyun increased its tally to 12 points from 10 games, yet it remained in the eighth and last position in the league standings, tied with Al-Burq, Al-Talal, and Shamsan in points. Meanwhile, Sana’a Unity maintained its third-place standing with 15 points from 9 games.
The league action continues tomorrow with four matches scheduled across morning and evening sessions. Al-Burq Tarim will host Shamsan, while Al-Mina, currently second in the standings with 17 points, will visit Seiyun. League leaders Shaab Hadramawt, boasting 18 points, will face Ahli Sana’a, and Sana’a Unity is set to meet Al-Talal.
