Al-Bayda Prepares for Comprehensive Livestock Foot-and-Mouth Disease Campaign

Al-Bayda: A meeting was held in Al-Bayda Governorate under the chairmanship of the Governorate’s Undersecretary for Administrative Units Affairs, Abdullah Al-Jamali, to discuss preparations for the launch of an awareness, guidance, and treatment campaign to combat foot-and-mouth disease among livestock and goats.

According to Yemen News Agency, officials from the Ministry of Administration and Local Development and the Agriculture Sector attended the meeting, where they reviewed the emergency intervention program aimed at combating the disease. The meeting focused on implementing a campaign targeting seven directorates in the governorate, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Animal Health and Veterinary Quarantine in Sana’a, to educate livestock breeders about preventive measures.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to form seven field teams that will operate in the targeted directorates based on reports received by the ministry. These efforts are intended to limit the spread of the disease and mitigate farmers’ losses. Undersecretary Al-Jamali emphasized the importance of protecting livestock from infectious diseases and urged local authorities to cooperate with field teams to ensure the campaign’s success and effective reach to the targeted areas.
