Al-bayda: The Radaa Basin Water Committee in Al-Bayda Governorate discussed on Monday, in a meeting chaired by the Governor of the Governorate and Committee Head Abdullah Idris, matters related to the management and preservation of water resources.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting, which included the Governorate's Deputy, Saleh Al-Joufi, addressed requests submitted to the committee concerning the drilling and deepening of wells, as well as mechanisms to regulate the issuance of well-drilling permits in accordance with approved legal and technical standards. The committee reviewed these requests and discussed taking necessary measures to protect water resources.
During the meeting, Governor Idris emphasized the importance of activating the committee's role and adhering to regulations governing the water sector. He stressed the need for coordination among relevant authorities and the intensification of efforts to preserve water reserves, confronting challenges that threaten water security in the governorate. He highlighted that safeguarding water resources is a top priority for the local authority's leadership, given the fundamental role water plays in life and development. The Governor also called for enhanced oversight of groundwater sources and a reduction in random depletion, ensuring the sustainability of this vital resource for future generations.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Governorate Branch of the Water Resources and Facilities Authority, Mohammed Al-Mansouri, reviewed the submitted requests, detailing the targeted drilling sites, technical observations, and the justifications for each request. He confirmed the branch's operation according to precise technical and regulatory plans to monitor water basins and update the database of licensed wells. Al-Mansouri noted that continuous coordination with the local authority and the Water Basin Committee will help control violations and regulate drilling and usage activities, ensuring water sustainability and protecting everyone's rights.
