Al-khokha: Ahmed Al-Bashri, First Undersecretary of Hodeida Governorate, and Ali Al-Saqqaf, Undersecretary of the General Authority for Zakat, inaugurated a free medical camp at Al-Khokha Rural Hospital in Al-Khokha District. The six-day camp, which focuses on ophthalmology, eye surgery, and cataract treatment, is funded by the General Authority for Zakat.
According to Yemen News Agency, the camp is implemented by the Health Care Association for Affected Communities in cooperation with the Governorate Health Office. It aims to provide medical consultations and examinations and perform over 200 cataract surgeries for eligible patients. Al-Bashri and Al-Saqqaf inspected the camp's activities and were briefed by the medical team on the screening and examination processes, procedures for identifying cases requiring surgery, and arrangements to ensure the camp's success.
Al-Bashri commended the General Authority for Zakat for funding the camp and praised the Health Care Association for Affected Communities and the Governorate Health Office for their implementation efforts in Al-Khokha District. He emphasized the importance of partnerships among relevant entities to expand the scope of services provided to citizens across districts. He also encouraged various state sectors to continue field visits to the West Coast districts to provide services to citizens, in line with leadership directives.
Al-Bashri noted that establishing the camp in Al-Khokha, along with another camp scheduled for Hays District, reflects efforts to strengthen health services in the West Coast districts and meet the needs of residents. Al-Saqqaf remarked that the camp is part of the Authority's contribution to supporting health sector programs in the liberated West Coast districts, highlighting the importance of specialized medical camps in improving healthcare services.
Dr. Hassan Tammah, Head of Health Affairs at the Zakat Authority, stated that the Authority continues to support health programs targeting needy groups and promotes cooperation with health authorities, medical institutions, and community organizations in implementing such initiatives. Ahmed Mahdi, Director of the Disbursement Department at the Zakat Authority's Hodeida office, explained that the camp is funded from allocations designated for eligible groups, aligning with the strategy of utilizing Zakat resources to support health programs.
Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, Head of the Health Care Association for Affected Communities, mentioned that the camp is part of the Association's efforts to provide free medical services to beneficiary communities. Amjad Al-Omaisi, Director of Al-Khokha District, commended the efforts to support and implement the camp, which provides essential eye surgery services to vulnerable patients, sparing them the cost and hardship of traveling elsewhere for treatment.
