Al-Madani and Al-Bukhaiti Assess Agricultural Research Initiatives in Dhamar

Dhamar: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration, Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani, along with Dhamar Governor Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, reviewed the research activities of the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension on Sunday. During their visit, al-Madani highlighted the Authority's significant role in advancing the agricultural sector through research, technology development, and pest management. He instructed the Authority to work in collaboration with governors to ensure that research efforts align with local agricultural goals, reaffirming the government's dedication to supporting this essential sector to achieve self-sufficiency.

According to Yemen News Agency, Governor al-Bukhaiti stressed the necessity of leveraging the Authority's capabilities to enhance grain and legume production and to expand vegetation cover. During the visit, officials were briefed on the Authority's mission, its research stations, and notable outputs, including 16 improved wheat varieties capable of yielding 3-7 tons per hectare and nine improved sheep breeds. Dr. Ahmed al-Jebri, Head of the Biotechnology Department, demonstrated the lab's method for propagating new potato varieties, which aims to improve genetic purity and conserve resources.
