Al-mahwit: Governor Hanin Qataina conducted an inspection on Monday to assess the progress of rehabilitation and equipping efforts at the College of Agriculture, Al-Mahwit University. Governor Qatina focused on the college's readiness for its opening and the arrival of the first cohort of students for the current academic year.
According to Yemen News Agency, the governor, along with accompanying officials, received a briefing from Dr. Amin Al-Azab, the Dean of the College of Agriculture. The briefing covered the completion status of rehabilitation and equipping work, infrastructure updates, educational and technical equipment, and plans to finish remaining tasks to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
Governor Qatina emphasized the significance of opening the College of Agriculture as a strategic move to bolster agricultural education in Al-Mahwit. He highlighted the college's role in supplying the agricultural sector with qualified scientific and technical personnel, which will aid in enhancing agricultural production, refining farming techniques, and leveraging the governorate's rich agricultural resources.
He reaffirmed the local authority's commitment to supporting Al-Mahwit University, ensuring the provision of necessary resources for educational success. This includes equipping the College of Agriculture to modern standards, aligning with labor market needs, and fulfilling agricultural development requirements. Governor Qatina also stressed the importance of collaboration between the university and relevant entities to benefit the community.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Shalabi, Rector of Al Mahwit University, shared that the university has completed most of the essential preparations for the College of Agriculture. Efforts are ongoing to finalize the remaining requirements for its opening and the admission of the first student cohort.
Dr. Al-Shalabi expressed gratitude for the local authority's support, underscoring the need to strengthen partnerships with government bodies, the local community, and the agricultural sector. He stated that such collaborations will enhance the practical aspects of university education, preparing specialized personnel to contribute to agricultural development in the governorate.
