Al-mahwit: Al-Mahwit province undersecretary Ahmed Al-Qatmah and Al-Mahwit city director Ibrahim Al-Nasser on Wednesday inspected progress on a community initiative to pave the road leading to Al-Arr Mosque village in Al-Sharqi sub-district of Al-Mahwit City. The project is being funded by the local community, with support from the city's Cooperative Society and the Central Developmental Interventions Unit.
According to Yemen News Agency, the project involves paving a 200-meter-long and four-meter-wide road, helping facilitate the movement of residents and vehicles and reduce the hardships faced by local communities, particularly amid the need to rehabilitate and improve internal and secondary roads connecting villages and residential areas. The project is being implemented as part of community initiatives aimed at contributing to infrastructure and basic service projects, with the participation of local residents and benefactors and support from the Cooperative Society in Al-Mahwit City and the Central Emergency Developmental Interventions Unit, which is providing cement.
Al-Qatmah and Al-Nasser, accompanied by Head of the Agricultural Cooperative Society in the city Dr. Humair Al-Harbi and City Mobilization Official Ibrahim Al-Wadaei, heard from Local Council member Fuad Al-Dhaifani and Initiative Coordinator Khaled Radman an explanation of the project's progress and the work completed to date. The undersecretary stressed the importance of road projects as a lifeline for residents by facilitating transportation, the movement of agricultural products, and the delivery of services, while strengthening connectivity between villages and communities. He praised the level of community engagement in implementing such projects, which reflects the spirit of cooperation and solidarity among residents.
He commended the efforts of local residents and the Cooperative Society in supporting the project, stressing the importance of expanding community initiatives and directing them toward service and development priorities in a way that improves services and alleviates residents' hardships. For his part, Al-Mahwit City Director emphasized the importance of completing the project according to the specified standards, affirming the local authority's readiness to overcome any obstacles that may hinder the work and ensure the project's completion and benefit to local residents.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Agricultural Cooperative Society said the society would continue supporting priority community initiatives and projects as part of its responsibility toward the community, noting that such projects contribute to strengthening solidarity and cooperation and meeting service and development needs. Executive Director of the Society Jaber Al-Shaathami highlighted the importance of the initiative in improving the road and enhancing services for residents of the area, as well as supporting development efforts and improving local infrastructure.
