Sana'a: Members of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Saleh Al-Nuaimi and Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh Bin Habtour, participated in the launch ceremony of the '1-1 I Will Start My Year Well 2026' campaign, organized by the National Cancer Control Foundation. The event was attended by Acting Prime Minister Alama Mohammed Miftah, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Abdul Salam Hashoul, and other officials.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Bin Habtour praised the doctors and leadership attending in support of the Foundation, as well as the business community representatives who have stood firm and contributed throughout the period of aggression and blockade. He emphasized that everyone in the capital, Sana'a, works tirelessly to provide services and resources for the Yemeni people, who continue to face the repercussions of these times.
Dr. Bin Habtour expressed gratitude to the National Cancer Control Foundation for bearing the burden alongside the Ministry of Health and Environment and the National Center for Cancer Control, acknowledging their efforts in combating this disease. He highlighted the role of businessmen, stating: 'We owe thanks to the men of finance and business who have stood alongside citizens and state institutions, contributing their money and effort to ease the suffering of patients facing this disease.'
The Supreme Political Council member stressed that many patients cannot face this illness without the cooperation of charitable organizations, businessmen, and citizen contributors. He added: 'Leaders and officials across the state appreciate this solidarity and popular support, which joins us today to stand by patients, doctors easing their pain, and financiers backing these initiatives.'
Dr. Bin Habtour noted that in the 11th year of aggression and blockade, citizens in northern and western governorates struggle to obtain treatment abroad due to air blockades and the practices of extremist elements in occupied areas, which prevent travelers from accessing Aden and Sayun airports. He extended thanks to the Foundation's president, board of directors, and all those who support the Foundation.
The ceremony, attended by Sana'a Governor Dr. Hamoud Abbad, also featured remarks from the Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Sheban, who stressed the importance of launching the campaign to support cancer patients. Dr. Sheban highlighted the National Cancer Control Foundation's role in providing services, established alongside the National Oncology Center, affirming that all levels of state authority are partners in combating this disease.
The Minister added: 'The Foundation was the first to open a specialized hospital for cancer treatment, and we aim to establish more. We hope to reach a stage where no one suffers untreated from cancer,' emphasizing the need to address the causes of cancer. He praised the efforts of the government, private sector, and health facilities involved in oncology, acknowledging their dedication to improving services for patients.
Hassan Al-Kabbous, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Cancer Control Foundation, noted that the '1-1' campaign in 2026 marks 11 years of work and highlights the suffering of cancer patients while opening doors for support. He expressed hope that contributions would continue to relieve patients' suffering, emphasizing that the campaign is an opportunity to multiply efforts in a humanitarian mission.
Deputy Chairman of the Foundation's Board, Mohammed Al-Ansi, highlighted the campaign's importance in raising awareness of cancer patients' struggles, urging support to alleviate their pain. He explained that the Foundation has been carrying out its mission for 22 years, providing medical services and social care to thousands of patients annually across its branches. He extended thanks to all national philanthropists whose support has been crucial to the Foundation.
The ceremony, attended by the Head of the Cancer Patients Association, businessmen, merchants, and philanthropists, also featured a report showcasing the National Cancer Control Foundation's achievements over the past period.
