Al-qanawis: The 'Greatest Messenger' football league concluded on Friday in Al-Qanawis district of Hodeida governorate. Organized by the district's Youth and Sports Office, the league featured five teams competing in a group-stage format.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Bani Mahdali team won the league title after defeating the Suqur Al-Mahadla team in a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 draw in regulation time. The final was marked by strong competition and enthusiasm among the teams.
The league was part of sporting activities held to commemorate the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday, bringing local teams together in friendly competition. Following the final match, a ceremony took place with the presence of Youth and Sports Office Director Adnan Mahdali, Education Sector Director Mohammed Zain, and several social and sports figures.
During the ceremony, the Bani Mahdali team was awarded the league cup and gold medals, while the Suqur Al-Mahadla team received the runners-up cup. Sports fans also celebrated the victories of the armed forces and the liberation of regions such as Hays, Al-Khawkhah, and Mocha from invaders, mercenaries, and occupiers.
