Sana'a: Al-Sumoud Sports and Cultural Club for War Disabled organized a sports race on Sunday at Al-Sabeen Square for 90 disabled war wounded, marking the Prophet Mohammed's birthday anniversary. The event was sponsored by the Social Welfare Department at the Ministry of Defense. Deputy Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdulmajid Al-Murtada praised the participants' high morale and described them as an honorable example for society due to their sacrifices in defending their country and people.
According to Yemen News Agency, Al-Murtada emphasized the significance of sports activities in enhancing the fitness of disabled war wounded and supporting their integration and active participation in society. The competitions featured various categories based on the nature of the disabilities. Hussein Ali Abdulrab took first place in the paralyzed category, followed by Abdullah Abu Taher and Mohammed Ali Qaed. In the arm amputee category, Rafad Mustafid emerged as the winner, with Ahmed Al-Sharjabi and Khaled Al-Gharbani securing the second and third places.
In the crutches category, Tawfiq Al-Wasabi claimed victory, while Rashid Rafada and Khaled Al-Mahbashi finished second and third. Mohammed Hassan Saleh won the blind category, with Nashwan Radman and Hamza Al-Ma'afa following. The prosthetic-foot category saw Waleed Al-Buraq emerge as the winner, with Sami Al-Asadi and Mahmoud Al-Ansi in second and third places.
At the conclusion of the event, winners were honored with trophies, medals, and cash prizes, celebrating their achievements and the spirit of resilience and determination demonstrated by all participants.
