Hodeida: Al Thawra General Hospital Authority in Al Hodeida marked the celebration of World Heart Day today, which also coincided with the first anniversary of the launch of its diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization unit. The event highlighted the achievements of the unit over the past year and honored the medical, nursing, and anesthesia teams for their dedication to patient care.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Khaled Suhail, Head of the Authority, emphasized the significance of the cardiac catheterization unit’s one-year milestone as a pivotal advancement in the hospital’s medical capabilities. He noted that the unit has significantly alleviated patient suffering and reduced financial burdens by providing essential cardiac services within the governorate, eliminating the need for patients to seek treatment elsewhere.
Dr. Suhail attributed this success to the support from the Ministry of Health leadership, the local governorate authority, and the committed efforts of the medical and technical staff, led by Cardiology and Catheterization Consultant Dr. Nabeel Marous. He announced that the hospital is on the verge of launching open-heart surgery operations for the first time, which will be offered free of charge to benefit the community.
Dr. Nabeel Marous, highlighting the achievements of the catheterization unit in its inaugural year, reported that the unit successfully completed over 305 procedures, including 202 diagnostic and 103 therapeutic interventions. The unit also handled special cases such as imaging of artificial valves and fluid withdrawal from the pericardium, including three pediatric cases. He credited the continuous support from the Authority’s leadership for enabling the unit’s sustained operations and development despite various challenges.
