Al-Thawra Hospital in Hodeida Performs First Open-Heart Surgery

Hodeida: Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority in Hodeida province has launched its first open-heart surgery, marking a major milestone in the governorate's healthcare sector and a new achievement in providing advanced medical services locally.

According to Yemen News Agency, the operation was conducted in cooperation with the Yemeni Society of Vascular Surgery and Baladna Organization. It was performed by a specialized team of consultants and technicians, with the first successful case carried out on a child. Officials confirmed that the surgeries will be provided free of charge.

Governor Abdullah Atifi praised the step as a 'ray of hope' for thousands of patients who previously had to travel to the capital Sana'a or abroad for such treatment. He stressed the leadership's commitment to supporting the hospital's development.

Hospital Chairman Dr. Khaled Suhail described the achievement as the result of months of preparation and equipment upgrades. He noted that it represents a leap toward medical self-sufficiency and an expansion of specialized cardiac care services in the governorate.
