Damt: Local authorities in Dhale' province launched on Thursday a project to provide alternative energy systems to farmers in Damt district to support irrigation and boost agricultural productivity. Acting Governor Abdullatif al-Shaghdari inaugurated the distribution of six alternative energy systems benefiting nine farmers in Damt district, implemented through a local development association.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project, funded by the Agricultural Financing Unit at a cost of nearly 48.8 million Yemeni rials, aims to irrigate around five hectares of farmland. Officials said the initiative supports agricultural empowerment and aligns with efforts to enhance food security and promote self-sufficiency, particularly in grain and legume production.

They emphasized the importance of optimal use of agricultural land and noted that such projects help expand farming activities through accessible financing and technical support. Local representatives added that the systems will improve productivity, enable better land use, and enhance crop quality for participating farmers.
