Amran: The Youth and Sports Office in Amran governorate, in collaboration with the governorate's Education Sector, organized a special athletic race on Thursday to honor the birthday of Prophet Muhammad for the year 1448 AH. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 250 students hailing from both primary and secondary schools.
According to Yemen News Agency, the race was conducted in two distinct stages. The first stage, designed for primary-school students, commenced at the Telecommunications Roundabout. Participants ran through Al-Sammad Martyr Square, concluding their race at the branch of Najran Street in Amran city. The secondary-school students participated in the second stage, which began at the Martyrs' Roundabout, formerly Al-Bashiri Roundabout. This route took them through the Telecommunications Roundabout, the traffic circle, Wasel Street, and Al-Sammad Martyr Square, ending at the same branch of Najran Street.
During the event, Director of the Governorate Youth and Sports Office, Abdullah Al-Wadaei, and Education Sector official, Abdulrahman Al-Emad, emphasized the race's role in the broader program of activities commemorating the Prophet's birthday. They highlighted the significance of student involvement in such sporting events, noting that it reflects the enthusiasm of young people for sports while honoring a culturally significant occasion for Yemenis.
Al-Wadaei and Al-Emad further elaborated on the spiritual importance of the event, describing it as an opportunity to draw valuable lessons and values from the life of Prophet Muhammad. They stressed the importance of adhering to his teachings and morals, aiming to nurture spiritual and humanitarian values in the younger generations. The race was part of a series of youth and educational activities organized throughout the Amran governorate, promoting school sports and encouraging constructive participation among young people to discover and hone their talents.
The race concluded with the top 10 winners receiving honors. The first three winners in both the primary and secondary categories, making up six students, were awarded bicycles for their exceptional performance, encouraging continued participation in sports activities. Students placing fourth through tenth were also recognized with material prizes, gifts, and certificates of appreciation.
