Amran: The Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in Amran governorate launched a campaign to plant 2,000 fruit trees along median strips across several streets in Amran city. Governor Dr. Faisal Juma'an and Deputy Governor Hassan al-Ashqas underscored the importance of utilizing the rainy season to green the city's medians with fruit-bearing and ornamental trees, aligning with the revolutionary leadership's directives to promote agriculture.
According to Yemen News Agency, the officials called for intensified efforts to expand tree planting across medians, roundabouts, and public spaces, ensuring their regular maintenance throughout the year. They commended the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund's efforts to enhance the city's appearance through beautification projects, median greening, and continued sanitation services. The governor and his deputy also encouraged local shop owners and the community to participate in initiatives to expand fruit tree cultivation in different areas of the city.
Executive Director of the Fund, Abbas al-Mutawakil, explained that the campaign includes planting 2,000 seedlings of guava, lemon, and pomegranate trees, along with ornamental plants and hedges. The planting is taking place along the ring road, beginning from Souq al-Layl roundabout to the University roundabout. Al-Mutawakil emphasized that greening the medians is part of a broader effort to increase vegetation cover, preserve the environment, and promote a culture of planting productive trees, thereby supporting national agricultural development programs and contributing to enhancing food security.
