Amran: The Board of Directors of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation in Amran governorate convened on Tuesday under the leadership of Governor Dr. Faisal Juma'an to assess the institution's performance, activities, and the projects executed during the year 1446 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by Amran undersecretary Hasan al-Ashqas, along with board members, who reviewed the annual report. This report highlighted essential activities and performance indicators, focusing on technical operations, service expansion, and project implementation. Efforts to rehabilitate water wells, transition operations to solar energy, and broaden water coverage throughout the governorate and its districts were also discussed.
The meeting also addressed the institution's achievements over the past year, identified challenges hindering water project operations, and considered proposed solutions to enhance performance and service delivery. Governor Juma'an underscored the importance of collective efforts to improve water and sanitation services, expand new water and sewage network projects in Amran city and its districts, and enhance institutional performance.
He emphasized the need for accountability in reducing water loss, minimizing distribution delays, and ensuring reliable access to water for citizens. Governor Juma'an also highlighted the significance of boosting revenue collection, addressing outstanding debts, and developing mechanisms to improve operational efficiency. During the meeting, Director of the Water and Sanitation Corporation, Eng. Nabil al-Houthi, presented a report detailing the completion of 22 projects at a total cost of 1.3 billion Y.R, alongside maintenance and rehabilitation work for 12 projects. He reaffirmed the Corporation's commitment to providing water services to subscribers despite declining well production due to increased consumption and withdrawal rates.
