Marib: The Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Blind celebrated on Tuesday the graduation of a number of blind students from several universities in various disciplines. At the ceremony, which was attended by Marib province undersecretary Mohammed Alwan, Director of Harib District Sadiq Hissan, and Advisor to the Ministry of Communications, the Head of the National Federation of Associations for the Disabled, Abdullah Bunyan, highlighted the significance of this achievement.
According to Yemen News Agency, Bunyan considered the graduation of this group of blind students a source of pride for all people with disabilities and a success for the Association, which has remained dedicated to providing care and support to its members since its inception. He acknowledged the contributions of parents, teaching staff, and the students' determination to acquire knowledge through diligence and perseverance, culminating in their graduation. Bunyan emphasized that this moment embodies the graduates' strong will to overcome challenges and achieve success, demonstrating that disability is not a barrier to ambition.
Bunyan also addressed the initiatives undertaken by the Federation and its affiliated associations to enhance the education of people with disabilities. These initiatives include agreements with government agencies, the private sector, and universities to facilitate education for this demographic. Efforts are being made to provide job opportunities for graduates and to support and empower people with disabilities through economic empowerment projects.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Association, Dhaifallah Ajlan, announced that 56 blind students have graduated from various universities in the capital and other governorates, reaping the rewards of their hard work and perseverance. He noted that since its establishment, the Association has aimed to provide a supportive educational and rehabilitative environment that enhances the abilities of blind individuals and opens opportunities for excellence and creativity.
Ajlan commended the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Fund for the Care of the Disabled, and all relevant bodies for their support and assistance to the Association's efforts to continue providing services to its members who are blind.
Dr. Hadi al-Sarabi, Vice Chairman of the University Center for People with Special Needs, reviewed the services provided by the center to prepare students academically and scientifically, enabling them to confidently and competently enter the job market and contribute to societal development.
In his address on behalf of the graduates, Amin Hatrash expressed gratitude for the support received from the Association and parents, emphasizing that their educational journey will be complete with employment.
The ceremony, attended by Brigadier General Yahya Surur, Head of the Association for the Care of the Deaf and Mute; Hassan Ismail, Head of the Al-Nour Center for the Blind; Abdul Rabbo Hamid, Head of the Federation of Sports for the Disabled; and representatives from the Fund for the Care of the Disabled and al-Aman Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of Blind Women, featured musical performances, a poetry recitation, and the honoring of graduates and supporting organizations with certificates.
