Bajil: The local authority in Bajil District, Hodeida Governorate, organized a demonstration field day for grain and fruit farmers in Al-Khadira sub-district. This initiative is part of a broader program aimed at forming and activating developmental agricultural production groups, under the supervision of the Ministry of Local and Rural Administration and Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. According to Yemen News Agency, the activity is designed to enhance agricultural production and train farmers in organized production groups. This effort aims to develop farmers' skills and implement best field practices to achieve vertical expansion in production and improve crop quality. During the field day, which was attended by Majd Al-Azazi from the Ministry of Agriculture, the district director, Abdul-Moneim Al-Rifai, emphasized that the demonstration fields, involving around 30 farmers, serve as a practical step towards building an organized agricultural community. This com munity is expected to enhance production levels and achieve sustainable agricultural development. Al-Rifai highlighted the importance of field visits to villages and sub-districts in raising farmers' awareness about adhering to sound practices to support agricultural production. He noted that self-sufficiency starts with the farmer by improving farming methods, using suitable seeds and fertilizers, and focusing on quality field operations. Increasing production efficiency can reduce costs and boost economic returns. Directorate Coordinator Hadi Heij pointed out the diversity of crops for which Bajil is known, especially sorghum and fruits. He stressed the need to improve their quality and marketing to ensure profitable returns for farmers. Heij also emphasized the significance of demonstration fields in raising awareness among farmers and guiding them to practices that can increase productivity and improve crop quality. The field day was also attended by Adnan Al-Qadimi, Secretary General of the Bajil Agri cultural Cooperative Society, and Hussein Al-Dhiabi, Executive Director.
