Campaign Activities to Combat Foot-and-Mouth Disease in At Ta’iziyah District

Taiz: The Undersecretary of Taiz Governorate for the Development Sector, Abdul Wasa Al-Shamsi, chaired a meeting focused on the activities of a campaign aimed at combating foot-and-mouth disease impacting livestock in At Ta’iziyah District.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was attended by various officials from the agricultural sector who assessed the current level of community awareness regarding livestock importance and protection from diseases. A significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement with the Department of Animal Health and the veterinary team to create awareness brochures to educate breeders on prevention techniques during the project’s execution.

Al-Shamsi emphasized that the campaign aligns with the directives from the Local Authority Leadership and is financially supported by the Agricultural Finance Unit. Cooperation is being extended by the Agricultural Sector, the Cooperative Union, the Bonyan Foundation, and the Condolence Cooperative Society. He highlighted the necessity of receiving reports from other districts to implement necessary measures against epidemics affecting livestock.

The meeting also evaluated the project’s progress, the number of cattle and livestock receiving benefits, and the field challenges encountered in implementation. Strategies to address these challenges were discussed to ensure the campaign’s success.
