Sana'a: The Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hamoud Obad, emphasized the significance of community initiatives in the execution of public service projects and in bolstering the local authority's efforts to enhance infrastructure and services for citizens.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Obad made these remarks during the handover ceremony for the project aimed at rehabilitating and restoring several streets in the Al-Umana neighborhood of Al-Wahda District. The initial phase of the project is valued at 278 million riyals.
Dr. Obad underscored the necessity for integrated efforts between official entities and local communities, urging the activation and support of initiatives designed to improve service and development work across the capital's districts.
The project is funded by the Capital Secretariat, with Al-Wahda District contributing at the community level. The Public Works Office is responsible for waste removal, while the Executive Unit for the Construction and Maintenance of Roads and Public Spaces in the Capital is executing the implementation. Oversight is being conducted by the Public Works and Projects Sector and the General Administration for Community Initiative Projects.
The mayor mentioned that the first phase of the project includes the construction of a concrete surface bridge, stone paving, asphalt patching for damaged road sections, and earthwork operations such as cutting, spraying, compacting, and leveling on the targeted streets.
