Sana'a: Capital mayor Hamoud Ubad on Monday inaugurated the second phase of a project to rehabilitate al-Ahdan grape farm in al-Rawda area of Bani al-Harith district. The project was implemented by the Capital Sana'a's Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit.
According to Yemen News Agency, Ubad, accompanied by Hamoud al-Naqeeb, deputy head of the Capital Sana'a's Development Team and chairman of its Social Affairs Committee, as well as Financial and Administrative Affairs Undersecretary Mazen Noman and Agriculture Sector Undersecretary Mohammed Saree, toured the project's facilities and reviewed its various stages. Officials were briefed by Abdullah Sharaf al-Din, executive director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, who said the second phase included the installation of 1,400 meters of modern irrigation networks to reduce water consumption, along with a solar power system. The total cost of the project was 15 million Yemeni rials.
Ubad emphasized the project's significance for rehabilitating the Al-Ahdan farm, highlighting its role in preserving original grape varieties and helping improve both the quality and quantity of grape production. He added that the Capital Secretariat aims in the coming period to produce around 200,000 grape seedlings from established rootstock and distribute them more widely as part of efforts to expand agricultural production.
Ubad described the project as an important contribution to agricultural development in the capital and praised the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit for supporting initiatives that he said benefit the national economy.
