Sanaa: The Capital Secretariat Scout Commission recently hosted a group iftar banquet for participants engaged in voluntary scout campaigns focused on community service. This marks the eleventh consecutive year that the commission has organized these initiatives.
According to Yemen News Agency, the campaigns encompass activities such as assisting traffic police, cleaning mosques, visiting the wounded, and distributing Eid clothing to children in need. Additional initiatives include Quran and religious hymns competitions.
During the banquet, Hammoud Al-Naqeeb, Head of the Social Affairs Committee at the Local Council of the Secretariat and Head of the Supreme Honor Council of the Commission, highlighted the annual tradition of the banquet. He noted the unique aspects of these "Tables of the Most Merciful," emphasizing the collective contribution and simplicity in their organization.
Al-Naqeeb also expressed appreciation for the support of Jamal Abdul Nasser Model School for Gifted Students in hosting the event. He praised the youth of the scout movement for their participation in service campaigns across various districts, noting their responsibility and resilience. He advocated for increased involvement of youth through schools, seeing them as the foundation of the scout movement.
Dr. Abdul Wahab Sharaf, Assistant Undersecretary of the Capital Secretariat and Head of the Executive Committee for Scout Activities, acknowledged the achievements of the scout movement youth in the Capital Secretariat and their contributions to the development program.
Abdullah Obaid, Director of the Youth and Sports Office and General Commissioner of Scouts in the Secretariat, praised the commission's Ramadan activities and campaigns, commending the staff and youth participants for their foundational role in the success of these initiatives.
