Sana'a: The Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit held its first conference in Sana'a on Sunday, marking four years since its establishment and coinciding with celebrations of the 12th anniversary of the September 21 Revolution.
According to Yemen News Agency, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Acting Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah, President of the Supreme Political Council Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat highlighted that the unit was initiated in response to the hardships faced by the people. It has extended its services into rural areas, mountain foothills, and remote regions, serving as the 'working hand' of the September 21 Revolution.
Al-Mashat reflected on the significant achievements made over the eight years since the late President Saleh Al-Sammad launched the 'One Hand Protects, One Hand Builds' project. The leadership has been focused on addressing the difficulties faced by citizens due to challenging roads, lack of water and schools, and inadequate basic services, especially in rural and coastal regions.
He emphasized that despite the ongoing U.S.-Saudi aggression and blockade, the leadership believes that breaking the blockade begins from within by serving citizens, building roads, drilling wells, and opening schools. Al-Mashat stated that the Central Emergency Interventions Unit was born from this conviction and the heart of suffering. In just three years, with dedicated efforts, it has achieved what was once deemed impossible.
The president affirmed the revolution's commitment to continue serving the Yemeni people and building a Yemen anchored in justice, dignity, freedom, and public service.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local and Rural Administration, Development, and head of the unit, Mohammed Al-Madani, articulated that the leadership views the unit as the revolution's working hand, contributing to the government's development efforts. He urged governors, local authorities, and district officials to mobilize local communities and enhance community initiatives, stressing the importance of coordination among central authorities, local authorities, the unit, and cooperative associations.
Al-Madani further highlighted the necessity of improving development mechanisms and strengthening community participation, particularly in projects related to roads, water, rainwater harvesting, and basic services.
Executive Director of the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, Engineer Shehab Al-Shami, remarked that the conference marks four years of sustained work and tangible development achievements carried out in collaboration with community and popular initiatives to alleviate the burden of the blockade and hardships on citizens. He stated that the unit's strategy focuses on supporting and empowering community initiatives, providing heavy equipment and necessary materials for vital projects, and promoting sustainable development.
The conference reviewed the unit's development and service projects implemented over the past years in various areas under its administration.
