Sana'a: The General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry organized a workshop in the capital Sana'a to introduce the importance of barcodes for products and businesses. The event brought together directors general of chambers of commerce from various governorates to enhance their understanding of the global system for product coding and numbering, known as barcodes.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge necessary to manage barcodes effectively and understand their benefits and implications. Attendees learned about the components and formats of barcodes, including country, company, and product identifiers, and explored the advantages of incorporating barcodes into business operations.
During the opening session, Mohammed Qafleh, the Director General of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, described the workshop as part of regular meetings designed to facilitate the exchange of views and proposals to advance the work of the Federation and its associated chambers. Qafleh stressed the significance of barcodes as a tool for automating workflows, speeding up sales processes, and ensuring accurate inventory tracking, thereby minimizing human error and reducing time and costs.
The workshop also outlined the roles of organizations responsible for issuing national barcode codes and provided a review of entities that have obtained international barcodes, underscoring the necessity of barcodes in enhancing trust, organizing data, and facilitating the global distribution of products.
