Amran: A committee assigned by the Supreme Judicial Council and the Attorney General began on Sunday inspecting prisons in Amran province. The initiative is part of a broader effort to evaluate the conditions within the correctional facilities and ensure proper judicial processes are being followed.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee, led by Judge Hussein al-Olofi, focused its initial efforts on the central reformatory in the province. Their primary goal was to review the cases of prisoners, with a particular emphasis on identifying those eligible for release. This initiative gains added significance with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, a time traditionally associated with mercy and forgiveness.
During the inspection, the committee made several determinations regarding the release of certain prisoners. They directed the release of individuals who have served a significant portion of their sentences and who meet the established criteria for release. This action is expected to provide relief to the prisoners and their families, aligning with the spirit of Ramadan.
