Sanaa:A committee focused on analyzing bread production costs and determining consumer sale prices has begun visiting bakeries following directives from the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee is examining recent changes in prices, such as increased fuel costs and the introduction of an 86-percent flour extraction rate, along with other production inputs.
The committee's assessment includes monitoring all stages of production, from dough mixing to the final bread product, while recording quantities and net weights using standardized forms for data analysis.
These visits will extend to both automated and semi-automated bakeries. The findings will be submitted to the ministry's leadership for decision-making.
The ministry stated that the study's goal is to balance consumer protection and fair bread pricing with the sustainability of bakery businesses, while also supporting improvements in quality, hygiene, and equipment.
