Community Initiative Restores Water Reservoir in Al-Muftah, Hajjah

Al-muftah: A community initiative has been carried out in Al-Muftah District, Hajjah Governorate, to rehabilitate an endowment-based water reservoir project with a capacity of 100,000 liters in the Bani Al-Shamakh area.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project, supported by the General Authority of Endowments in the governorate, the Bonyan Development Foundation, and local benefactors, will benefit dozens of needy families in the area.

The Director of the Office of Endowments and Guidance, Mohammed Aishan, told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the project is part of ongoing efforts by the Authority and Bonyan Foundation, in cooperation with charitable contributors, to revive the waqf (endowment) tradition and enhance its developmental and service role in meeting community needs.

He explained that the reservoir was originally an old cistern built to serve residents, but it had deteriorated over time and become a dumping site for waste. Charitable community members later took the initiative to restore, expand, and roof the structure, returning it to its charitable and humanitarian purpose of providing clean water to locals.

Residents of the area expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project, describing it as a model of endowment revival and community service that strengthens the values of solidarity and benevolence promoted by Islam.
