Hodeidah: The Prophet's Birthday Club Football Championship for the year 1447 AH concluded in Hodeidah Governorate with Al-Hilaj Youth Team from the Bait Al-Faqih Directorate securing the title. They triumphed over Al-Hilal Al-Sahel in a penalty shootout (5-3) after the match ended in a 2-2 draw during regular time.
According to Yemen News Agency, the final match took place at Al-Olafi Stadium and drew a large crowd. The game was filled with excitement from the start. Al-Hilal Al-Sahel initially took the lead with two goals, scored by Uday Hassan in the 15th minute and Nasim Al-Sharif in the 70th minute. However, Shabab Al-Helj quickly responded, with Abdel Hamid Al-Mowaqari scoring in the 71st minute, followed by an equalizer from Hamza Ziad in the 85th minute. The match was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout, which Shabab Al-Helj won.
The awards ceremony was attended by local and sports leaders, including the First Deputy of the Governorate Ahmed Al-Bishri, Deputy Governor Mohammed Halisi, Commander of the Coastal Defense Major General Mohammed Al-Qadri, and Director of the Youth and Sports Office Imad Al-Borai. During the ceremony, Al-Helj was awarded the championship cup and gold medals, while Al-Hilal Al-Sahel received silver medals. Referees and working committees were also honored for their contributions.
The event was praised for its organization and was seen as a representation of sportsmanship in Hodeidah.
