Al-dhale'a: A training program for students from the Plant Protection Department at the Faculty of Applied Sciences - University of Al-Dhalea has concluded at the National Agricultural Training Center, affiliated with the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension.
According to Yemen News Agency, the closing ceremony included remarks from Dr. Hassan Al-Khawlani, Director of the Research Sector at the Authority, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Authority and various educational and institutional bodies. This collaboration aims to advance scientific research, training, and the dissemination of modern agricultural techniques to benefit the community and promote sustainable agricultural development.
Dr. Afeef Rajeh, a national expert and trainer in plant protection, described the comprehensive nature of the two-week training program. It encompassed both field and laboratory training, covering essential topics such as sampling methods, infection level assessments in fields and orchards, and inspection techniques. Additionally, the program focused on the preparation of nutrient media, fungi isolation and identification, and the analysis of insect-related viral transmission.
The training also addressed methods for collecting and preserving insects, the risks pests pose to agricultural production, and the significance of integrated pest management for environmental protection and sustainable plant production. Participants were exposed to national experiences and practical applications in biological control and the production of various biological agents like fungi, bacteria, and natural substances.
